The Past Free of Paradoxes
As Gruntilda lay defeated in ghostly form at the top of her tower once again she remains worse-off at the hands of Banjo and Kazooie. Absolutely gobsmacked, Gruntilda begins her final lament on her tower; “Aaah! This can’t be, my plan’s a ruin, it’s all Banjo and Kazooie’s doing!” The Hag rises into the air and her ghostly form is flung in all directions as she shrieks and streaks across the purple sky. As she begins her wayward descent, she travels down toward her tower just as she did during the finale of Banjo-Kazooie. The witch then crashes through her tower window and returns to the top, disappearing in a puff of smoke in the sky above Banjo and Kazooie.
Meanwhile, down in the fields of Spiral Mountain away from the view of Banjo and Kazooie, Gruntilda ends her falling descent in exactly the same place as she had two months previous; underneath the giant rock that covers her body in Spiral Mountain. Cursing her rotten luck on her henchmen and Mecha-Suit, Gruntilda calls for her loyal minion to return to her side. As Klungo begins attempting to shift the massive boulder, Gruntilda reasons that if he intends on getting blisters he should first send a message to her sisters Mingella and Blobbelda to help out the hag.
There’s No Place Like Home!
Banjo and Kazooie however are on their way to Mumbo’s Pad, where the Shaman will attempt to send the Bear and Bird duo back to their own time period. As preparations are underway Mumbo tells Banjo and Kazooie they “did pretty good job, but would never have done it without help from Mumbo!” Whatever you say Hut Boy, just work that magic and get us home, please.
Once Banjo and Kazooie are back in the center of the room, Mumbo casts the final spell that will take them home, let’s just hope that the spell will be as accurate as it was in bringing us here in the first place.
Thankfully for Banjo and Kazooie their wayward trip takes them back to the Spiral Mountain of their own time, just where they left off. In front of their Spiral Mountain home the Bear and Bird are greeted by a group of Jinjos who inform them that they’ve been freed at last and that they’re happy to stay in Spiral Mountain. Honey B. shows up on the scene to tell us everything is as it should be, and the future looks bright! However, in tow behind the bee Mumbo follows her chanting into the bushes… This is the ending you’ll manage to receive if you’ve completed the game 100%, if you miss even a single item, then you’ll achieve the ‘Alternate Ending” depicted below.
Lots of goes with many Banjos!
After Mumbo has preformed his mighty Mumbo magic that will transport Banjo and Kazooie back to their own time, he pauses for a moment of reflection. “Can’t remember if Spellbook said, ‘Go, come, you come’, or ‘you come, go come!” This is no time to start having self-doubts, Masked-Midget, this is time-travel you’re dealing with! As Mumbo may well have torn the spacetime continuum asunder, Banjo and Kazooie make their sickeningly spiraling journey back through the purple and green portal that will lead them to Spiral Mountain of a distant time… we hope!
All appears normal as the duo arrives back at Spiral Mountain; a mix-up on Mumbos part could very well have had them showing up on Mars. Before the Bird are able to breathe a sigh of relief however, a bit of rustling comes from within their Spiral Mountain home. Out from their house comes another Banjo to greet them on their return. Then another. Then a third Banjo emerges from within, when at last a final Banjo can be seen standing just in front of the doorway. Taking the whole scene in Kazooie quips that it “Looks like Hut boy didn’t last spell quite right!” What threw you? Was it the four new Banjos, Kazooie?
Putting the past as it should ‘bee’
If you were unable to collect all of the items in your adventure than you’ll be treated to the Alternate Ending, however, if you’ve followed this guide from start to finish then you’ll have collected each and every item which allows you to view this extra cutscene inside Mumbo’s Pad. After a quick chase around Spiral Mountain, Mumbo and Honey B. enter the Shamans Pad. As Honey B. descends toward the center, Mumbo approaches her front and exclaims that he’ll “finally get chance to learn Bee Dance, maybe Honey B. see Mumbo’s special transformation sometime?” and as if on cue, the Disco Ball descends.
Whether or not you’ve completed the game 100% or not, you’ll be shown the Rating Screen to your right after the scene to your ending finishes. Depending how well you did you’ll be awarded a number of Jiggies out of five that gauge your performance. If you’ve left out lots of items than you can expect your score to be low, whereas if you’ve gone on a collecting spree and collected everything there was to collect your score will be quite high. If you’re a little perplexed at the lack of a fifth Jiggy, it should be known that this Jiggy gauges how quickly you’ve beaten the game, to acquire it you’ll need to have beaten the entire game in under 2 hours and 30 minutes. Regardless, you won’t receive any added incentive for acquiring it aside from bragging rights.
