ATTACK CYBORG
Treading carefully along the catwalk, Joanna keeps an eye out for opposition; a free hand clutches the remaining C-4 Explosives – only two more cannisters now… Suddenly, from across the room, a large door begins to raise – Joanna steels herself for a confrontation against the Factory Guards, but her eyes go wide with shock as the frame of a large spider-like Cyborg fills the doorway instead. Deftly moving across the room with its arachnid limbs, the hydraulics wheeze and churn as the Cyborg faces the agent with malice…
ATTACK CYBORG: MAP OVERVIEW
MISSION OBJECTIVES:
• LOCATE AND DESTROY CYBORG FACTORY
• DEFEAT MINK HUNTER
As soon as the large door closes, Joanna will be thrust into battle. You’ll need to double tap the directional pad to the left or right to get into a sprint. The Attack Cyborg is equipped with a set of ballistic missiles that it will continuously fire throughout the confrontation, so you’ll be encouraged to keep your distance and outrun the rockets when you can. You’ll be able to withstand 6 direct hits, whereas near-misses will only effect you if you’re caught in the blast radius. The Attack Cyborg will fire 2-3 missiles with each phase, taking a break between each strike to reposition itself.
There are two Ion Cannons positioned on either side of the catwalk that will do damage to the Attack Cyborg; you’ll need to wait until it finishes its missile strikes and positions itself in the corner of either side, aligned with the Ion Cannon. Approaching the Cannon and pressing ‘A’ when the Cyborg is within range will fire a strong laser which will cause it to malfunction and spin in place as it becomes temporarily disabled. You can use this time to continuously fire the laser at the Attack Cyborg to deliver further damage, however, the rate of fire will decrease over time as it needs to recharge.
Once you’ve damaged the Attack Cyborg with the first laser, a green bar will descend from the top of the screen. This bar represents the Attack Cyborgs health; when attacked, a single green square will appear dithered with both green and red visible, indicating 50% damage. When the Attack Cyborg is attacked a second time in succession, the square will appear as solid red, indicating 100% damage with a permanently cleared unit of health. You’ll need to render all 8 of the green squares red in order to decommission the Attack Cyborg, which can be achieved with 16 laser blasts from the Ion Cannons over the course of the battle.
You’ll need to rely on Joanna’s sprinting ability for the majority of the battle, only venturing towards the Ion Cannons when the Attack Cyborg has been temporarily spent of its arsenal. It’s very, very easy to get greedy during this phase and try for successive hits and risky positioning, which can result in direct hits from the rockets – so try to play conservatively and stay out of harms way as much as possible. Keep sprinting and sneaking in hits when you can and eventually the Attack Cyborgs’ health bar will display 8 red squares. When this occurs, the Cyborg will explode from within, allowing Joanna to continue her mission.
