Dinoman96’s four cooleo ideas for Smash Bros 4 stages!
So if you cared at all, I removed my previous blog with my opinions on what the Smash 4 roster for characters, ATs, and bosses should/could be. But since then, I’ve been constantly changing my mind about the characters, so that blog became way oudated. So time this week or the weeks afterwards I plan on making a new write up on that subject matter.
But for now, to hold y’all over, I’m gonna write about four totally cool ideas for SSB4 stages!
THE UNDERWORLD (KID ICARUS)
As you all may know, SSB4 is on both 3DS and Wii U, and while sharing the same character roster, they both have unique stages: Handheld based ones for the 3DS, and Console based one for the Wii U. Now, because of this, many of people have doubted that the Wii U version would receive a Kid Icarus stage, or at least one based on Uprising.
But I don’t think this is a strict theme we’re going with here. For example, the Wii U version has a Pilotwings stage that represents both the old game from SNES and Pilotwings Resort which was on 3DS. I have a good way to represent Uprising on both versions as far as stages go, even if Uprising was a handheld title. From what we’ve seen, the 3DS version has a stage based on Chapter 11, where the war between humans is going on and Viridi’s character is introduced. Now, Viridi and the Forces of Nature were created for Uprising, but the Underworld, and Medusa for that matter, were all there for the NES game, so I think it would make sense to have an Underworld stage here, even if it’s themed to Uprising. So here’s the stage itself:
Fairly basic stage, but in my mind, every now and then, a giant sized Medusa or Hades appears from the background and starts messing with the players. Think the Metal Gears from Shadow Moses Island from Brawl, only the two gods/goddesses actually harm players. Medusa wouldn’t say much, but if Hades is here there HAS to be commentary from him, shit talkin’ the players. It’s the only way. Speaking of which….
Of course! A stage based on a game with so much charming dialogue and character would be a blunder without some sort of Smash Taunt, which would allow for Pit to communicate with other characters. In case you’re wondering, if Palutena is playable, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to have her playable and be in a smash taunt call, considering Wolf, Fox and Falco are all in each others taunts as well, so no big deal. I’d like to see what Pit and Palutena talk about on the field together, haha.
MIIVERSE (WII U)
As you can see, this stage is fairly basic like Smashville, but there’s two platforms that float up and down below the main structure. Green platforms connect the Miiverse community hubs, as all the Miis below watch in awe…or make awkward commentary. Throughout the match, the Miis will spout all weird sorts of messages, where it be related to crawling or Minecraft.
GYROMITE
From what I’ve noticed in Smash, it seems every game, there’s always at least one series who gets the short end of the stick when it comes to stages. In Smash 64, F-Zero and Mother were stageless, as was Fire Emblem in Melee and R.O.B in Brawl. So I’ve decided to remedy that.
Based on one out of two games that ROB ever worked with, Professor Hector, the protagonist of Gyromite, controls his own ROB in the background, who in-itself is controlling the red and blue pipes. Depending on where you are on the stage, these moving platforms could have varying effects. If you’re on the bottom one like poor ol’ Pacman up there, you could plummit to your doom below. If you’re in between the red and blue pipes on the left side of the stage, you could get smooshed and instantly KO’d. You may also notice those Smicks on the right (The weird bird things that were the enemies of Gyromite). At first, they don’t do much, being locked up in the right corner…until the blue platform rises up, unleashing the Smicks onto the bottom part of the stage!
And last…but not least…..!
DINOHATTEN (THE SUPER MARIO BROS MOVIE)
Alright, alright, alright, yes, this is obviously, totally never going to happen, but man, I think it would be hilarious if Smash Bros actually represent the awful-yet wonderful SMB film. You may not notice it from the poorly done doodle from above, but this stage would act similarly to that of Mute City from Melee and Isle Delfino of Brawl, going through and making constant stops in the twisted and surreal mushroomy hellhole. Who knows, maybe you could have Dennis “Over the Top” Hopper jump on the stage at some point and turn everyone into monkies with a de-evolution gun!
Well, there you have it, four totally neat ideas for stages for Smash 4. Now sooner or later, I’ll get the new character roster analysis thing up. But for now….stay tuned….
