Note: The following article contains some major spoilers for Banjo-Pilot. If you don’t want to spoil what the unlockables of the game are, then do not read on. Simple as that.

Anyway, that aside, welcome to Spiral Mountain’s unlockables guide for Banjo-Pilot on the Gameboy Advance. Battle Tracks:

Battle tracks in Banjo Pilot are tracks you can use in the multiplayer mode if you have two copies of Banjo-Pilot and a GBA link cable. They’re basically two-player dog fight stages which work in the same way as the dog fights at the end of each Grand Prix cup.

Purple Glowbos will trigger three zippers in a row for you to fly through for a large boost, while Green Glowbos will activate a single zipper which, once flown through, will take you flying through a large portion of the track at a tremendous speed without the need to control your turning.

Hidden Characters:

There are five unlockable characters in Banjo-Pilot, each with a different set of stats. You may have to unlock a couple before you realise which character is good for you. Or just unlock the fifth and then you’ll realise straight away which character that is.

1. Humba Wumba

Head over to the Grand Prix mode, and select the Bottles GP, and the Jiggy Cup. After placing well in the four races, you’ll go head to head with Humba Wumba. Defeat her before she takes you down and you’ll unlock her. Head over to Cheato and buy her to be able to use her in races.

2. Jolly Roger

Yes, the camp frog from Banjo-Tooie is finally back. You can unlock him by entering the Pumpkin Cup in the Grunty GP mode. Place well in the first four races then defeat him in a battle to unlock him. Buy him from Cheato to use him in races.

3. Klungo

Grunty’s famous sidekick from Banjo-Kazooie, Tooie and Grunty’s Revenge returns as a playable character in Banjo-Pilot. To unlock him, enter the Skull Cup in the Grunty GP, then beat him in a battle after placing well in the four races prior. Now purchase him from Cheato for use in races.

4. Gruntilda

Grunty returns in Banjo-Pilot, stunningly as her old, warty self from Banjo-Kazooie. You can unlock her by entering the Broomstick Cup in the Grunty GP, placing well then beating her in a battle. Then you can go to Cheato and purchase her for use in races.

5. Bottles

The last unlockable character, and by far the best – once you unlock him you won’t want to bother using other characters again. To unlock Bottles, head into the Jiggy Challenge mode, then enter the Bottles GP. You’ll need to beat Bottles on each of the sixteen tracks and collect all six jiggies from the course within the race to unlock him. After you’ve done all that, you can head over to Cheato to purchase him for use in races. It may be a chore, but it’ll be worth it in the end.

Other Unlockables:

‘Stop ‘n’ Swap’

Ooh, the answer to Stop ‘n’ Swap, revealed at last! In Banjo-Pilot of all places! Aren’t you glad you bought this game now?

Beat all the Rare Time Trial records for each track, then purchase this from Cheato for 999 pages. Only then will you realise you’ve been fooled, as Cheato declares:

‘So you want to know about Stop ‘n’ Swap, eh? I hope you’re ready. Here goes…

Why don’t you stop annoying me and swap this game for a nice book or something?’

Yeah. Did you really think Rare would give it all away as easily as that? Didn’t think so.

Photo Album

After you’ve beaten all of the Cups with a Platinum Trophy, collected all rosettes, jiggy challenges, time trials, GPs and everything, you can purchase this from Cheato for 999 pages. Inside are a few of the rendered pictures and backgrounds you’ll see in the game after beating certain modes.

Alternate Opening Video

Collect all the Platinum Trophies in the game and you’ll notice that, next time you boot up the game, the Rare logo is a nice platinum colour instead of the regular gold.
