Perfect Dark Frequently Asked Questions
Does Perfect Dark require the use of the N64 Expansion Pak?
For maximum gameplay, the N64 Expansion Pak is required. However, some modes will function without the Pak. Reference the chart below to learn what is available with and without the Expansion Pak.
I can only choose Combat Simulator (multiplayer games). What’s going on?
Only 1- or 2-player Combat Simulator games are available without the Expansion Pak.
I’m using a Classic Weapon and the manual-target crosshair is from GoldenEye 007!
This is normal. Classic Weapons have the GoldenEye crosshairs, and regular weapons have the Perfect Dark crosshairs. If the Classic Sight cheat is turned on, then all weapons will have the GoldenEye 007 crosshairs.
I can’t move my character. What happened?
You may have set the Controller setup to a setting that uses the C Buttons rather than the Control Stick to move the character.
I beat the game and saw the ending. Does the ending ever stop?
No, you will have to press reset. All game data is automatically saved.
I beat the game and the title screen is different. Is this normal?
Yes. When you beat the game, a new option appears in the Video Options Menu called Alternative Title Screen.
Is there a way to move more quickly?
Yes. While moving, hold either Strafe button to move more quickly.
Why doesn’t my pistol shoot?
All weapons have a Secondary Function. For pistols, the Secondary Function is Pistol Whip. Hold the B Button until the pistol returns to the primary function, which is to shoot.
What is the Perfect Dark setting and how do I get it?
To earn this difficulty setting, you have to complete Missions 1-9 on Perfect Agent.
Note: There is no way to earn a cheat while on this setting.
The Perfect Dark setting will allow you to alter Enemy Health, Enemy Damage, Enemy Accuracy and Enemy Reaction Speed. You will not have new objectives.
I successfully finished a stage, and the next stage didn’t open. What happened?
If you complete a level using a cheat, you cannot advance to a new level.
How can I find out what’s required to earn a cheat?
To view the requirements to unlock a cheat, choose a cheat type/category, then highlight the desired cheat (it will be listed as dashes “—–“). The requirement to unlock that cheat will be displayed above the word “Done”. Once earned, the name of the cheat will replace the dashes.
Can more than one Cheat be used at a time?
Yes.
How do I get on the Hoverbike?
Tap the B Button twice while standing next to the Hoverbike.
