FACTORY FIGHT: MAP OVERVIEW
Mink Hunter: Ah, Ms. Dark, I have been expecting you. If you think you can just waltz in here and destroy my little operation, you are very much mistaken.
Joanna Dark: Give it up, Hunter. This is the end of the line. I’ve placed explosives throughout your factory, and as soon as I’ve dealt with you I’m going to blow this place apart.
Mink Hunter: You’ll have to get past me first, girl!
Joanna Dark: Have it your own way!
The confrontation with Mink Hunter occurs on the catwalks over the Foundry; a large cauldron of superheated liquid metal where the Attack Cyborg components are smelted. Pressing A when facing to the northwest or southwest will cause Joanna to throw a single Shuriken across the Foundry towards Mink Hunter, who will attempt to defend himself with a black Shuriken of his own. If Joanna’s Shuriken comes in contact with the walls of the arena, it will deflect and continue its path in a manner similar to Billiards. If Joanna doesn’t catch her Shuriken on its return, it will become embedded in the wall and will need to be retrieved.
For the duration of this showdown, you’ll need to keep sprinting the vertical length of your catwalk so you avoid Mink Hunter’s Shuriken – only pausing to take aim and fire your own across the gap. As a general rule, you’ll want to throw your Shuriken from the middle of the catwalk to the northwest or southwest when Mink Hunter is in the middle; throw it northwest from the top of the catwalk when Mink Hunter is at the bottom; and throw it southwest from the bottom of the catwalk when Mink Hunter is at the top. When the Shuriken hits Mink Hunter, he’ll lose a fraction of his health, as indicated by the green bar.
If Joanna gets hit with a Shuriken, she’ll be given the same lifespan as Mink Hunter, making this a fight to the death in 10 successive hits. In order to gain the upper hand, you’ll need to keep Joanna’s health preserved as much as you can by sprinting away from Max Hunter’s Shuriken as much as possible. If you can, try and deflect your Shuriken towards Mink when he’s preparing his own, or lure him into the center of the catwalk by sprinting towards the opposite side of the catwalk when applicable. Avoid taking too much damage and eventually you’ll drain Mink Hunter’s health entirely, causing him to fall to his death into the Foundry.
With Mink Hunter marinating in the liquid metal of the Foundry, Joanna finds no further resistance in carrying out her mission. As the agent leaves the Cybernetic Facility behind, she initiates the C4 Explosives – in seconds, the volatile cannisters erupt, each one triggering the next in a caustic chain reaction, just as Max Danger had promised. As the smoke clears and the surrounding jungle trees cease their swaying, it’s revealed that the entire compound has been leveled quite effectively.
With her mission complete, Joanna meets with the awaiting Orca Dropship in a clearing nearby. Boarding the craft, she signals the pilot to leave the area and then connects with Daniel Carrington as it begins its flight.
Joanna Dark: Mission successful, sir.
Daniel Carrington: Very good. Anything to report?
Joanna Dark: Although there was heavy resistance, I was able to destroy the facility and eliminate the head of the forces. There was one odd thing. During the landing, I witnessed an aircraft being shot down. I made a note of the co-ordinates.
Daniel Carrington: Good, good. You have done well, Joanna. We’ll take a look at those co-ordinates and compare them with satellite data for the area. I knew you would make a good agent. I’ll expect a full report on my desk before you leave.
Minutes pass as the Orca Dropship continues its flight, the sounds of whirring engines and South American gales fill the cabin, until Daniel Carrington’s voice returns to address the agent over the system.
Daniel Carrington: We found nothing, Joanna. In all of the satellite data, that grid square is empty. But we got hold of an Air Force pilot’s report of a UFO in the area at that time.
Joanna Dark: A UFO? More likely it’s an experimental aircraft.
Daniel Carrington: I agree, but it’s still worth investigating. Go and snoop around the crash site, see what you can find. But look out for dataDyne activity in the area. We’re getting a lot of strange reports.
Joanna Dark: Yes, sir.
