CloudRunner Fortress/The Second SpellStone
Welcome to CloudRunner Fortress, home of the CloudRunners! The Queen CloudRunner will go ahead and make it to the end first. Kill the two SharpClaws on the bridge and then jump down in the water to your left. Swim straight to find a platform with a switch on it. Step on this to activate a timer. Three silver rings made of stars will appear and you must jump through them all. This isn’t that hard just follow the path. If you fall in the water it’d be best to swim back and start again since one slip and you’re done. After jumping through the second ring do not jump on the box, instead jump on the green strip of metal with small inclines. The last ring will not have anything to jump onto so jump through the ring into the water. After jumping through all three, a sun tile will appear over the gate on top. You will end up in front of a ladder. Climb to the top, take out your fire blaster and look on top of the gate and shoot the sun tile to open it.
Kill the two SharpClaws inside and run up the circular ramp while ignoring the two security system robots. When you get to the top you see a closed gate. Slide down the ladder ahead and run to the other side at the wall. You will see a switch. Activate this to open the gate. If you destroy the box next to you you will find a Staff Rocket Boost. If you want you can use this to get to the top of the tower and find some health. You can also check out the great view! Climb back up the ladder and enter the newly opened gate to start a cutscene.
You peer through some rocks and find SharpClaws beating up the queen… with General Scales at their sides. Scales demands answers from the CloudRunner but she refuses to talk. You confront Scales only to be captured by security system robots. You becomes stunned and fall to the ground. You wakes up in a small cell with his your staff missing.
Push out the block to the right of you on the wall. Turn right once you escape the room. You will end up in a room with large cages holding some CloudRunners. You will also see your staff on a table with a sleeping guard next to it. If you step on a puddle you will wake him and you will be taken back to your cell. Run behind the cages on the right into the hallway at the end. Turn left to find a ladder. Slide down and you will find an air current with a barrel bomb on the side. Pick up the bomb and set it on the air current. Walk on the switch on the other side to make the bomb fly to the roof. Don’t worry if the switch will not drop to the ground like others it won’t. Standing on it will make the air current stronger and will blow the bomb to the roof. Once it detonates the roof will collapse and you now have clear access to get a disguise from Slippy.
In the yellow section of your c inventory you will find the SharpClaw disguise. Activate this to turn yourself into a SharpClaw! Climb up the ladder and run down the hallway. The guard will wake up and wants a break. Simply take back your staff and activate the four switches on the back wall to free the cages CloudRunners. One of them will give you a Power Room Key to activate the wind lifts. Run down the hall and look up to see a sun tile. Shoot this to open the stone door. Climb up the brick wall on the right and drop down onto the ledge on the left. Climb up another two stories of bricks to make it out of the jail.
Turn right to find yourself outside! Run straight and run up the ramp to the left of the rubble; which is where you got caught. There are three switches with CloudRunner symbols on them. Push the switch on the right to open a gate. Quickly make your way to the south east side of the area and put out the flame blocking your path with your ice blaster. Inside, use your Staff Rocket Boost to get onto the alcove. Inside, open the barrel to find a light gem.
Go back to the three CloudRunner buttons and push the one on the left to open another gate. To the left of where you escaped the prison, there is a box with a switch on top. Activate this to drop a ladder to your left. Climb up and extinguish the two fires with your ice blaster. At the end is another barrel. Open this to acquire the second light gem.
Head back to the three switches and activate the last one in the center to open the final gate. Run back down the ramp and to the left are stacked crates. Jump on them and make your way to the top. Run past the sharp claws and turn right. Scale the wall until you find the opened gate. Open the barrel to collect the final light gem.
Make your way to the south west side of the area and enter the room. You will find a switch on the wall. Use the Power Key with it to open the door. Inside is a large grate on the ground with three light gem holders on each side. Quickly put in the correct gem in each to activate the fan. Hurry because there will be a life meter slowly draining down. Once the gems are in place the fans in the area will be turned on. Head back to where you escaped the prison to find the chief engineer CloudRunner. He will tell you what to do next.
Use the fan in the north east side of the area to float up to the next path. Kill the three SharpClaws that attack. Activate your SharpClaw disguise and step on the switch in front of the gate to open it. Kill all of the SharpClaws in this area to dispel a magic force field. Go inside the first entrance and climb up the ladder. Activate your SharpClaw disguise and step on the switch to activate the magnet crane. Jump back down and pick up a barrel bomb while in your disguise and take it into the room with the ladder. Set the bomb down under the magnet crane to bring it up to the next floor. Climb the ladder and pick up the bomb again. Walk out and throw the bomb on the boarded wall to open the next path. If you jump the gap you will drop the bomb so stand next to the ledge and throw it.
Walk into the newly opened path only to fall through some loose ground. Kill the two SharpClaws in the area and step on the SharpClaw switch in the north east of the area while in your disguise. This will drop a ladder behind you. Climb up the ladder and follow the CloudRunners moans to the center and talk to her. She will mention that the floor seems unstable and you should find a way to collapse it. Go left around the cage and you will see boxes stacked on top of each other on the ground. Jump on the boxes and jump the next gap to the ledge. Activate the switch there to lower a gate. On the exact opposite side of the area is another switch. Activate this to turn on a fan.
Head back out of the area and grab another bomb while in the SharpClaw disguise run back into the room with the trapped CloudRunner. When you jump in the fan you will drop the bomb but it will not detonate. Simply pick up the bomb again and run straight ahead. Throw the bomb at the cracked pillar that is supporting the cage above to collapse it.
Once the CloudRunner is free she fears that her children will leave and never return due to the SharpClaw. She gives you a CloudRunner flute and asks you to make them safe. Run back out over the air vent and you will see the first child being antagonized by a SharpClaw. Kill the SharpClaw and jump on the box next to the baby CloudRunner. Take out the flute and play it. The baby will fly back to somewhere safe. The next baby CloudRunner can be seen down the path in the cut scene. Run down the path and shoot the sun tile above the gate to open it. Run through and jump over the air vent. Kill the two SharpClaws down the path and then use the flute next to the CloudRunner who is standing on a box.
This next CloudRunner may be a bit difficult to find. First, jump down onto the floor below you. Make your way to the west of the area where all the rubble is. Navigate through the rubble to get to the next area. Turn left in the door and make another right to the ladder. Climb down the ladder and use the Staff Rocket Boost near you. If you haven’t destroyed the crate you must do so to reveal it. Once up, follow the path and kill the three SharpClaws. Once they’re dead, play the flute next to the CloudRunner. The last CloudRunner is all the way on the north east side of the level. Jump back down and climb up the ladder. Make your way through the rubble and fly up the air vent north east of the area. Follow the path until you come to the huge balcony. Run straight forward to the ledge and kill all four SharpClaws. Play the flute next to the CloudRunner and you will be finished navigating the level. Return to the Queen CloudRunner and she will reveal your reward. She will open a gate leading to the second SpellStone.
Over by where you saved the first baby is an arch on the ledge. Climb down the ladder under it and follow the path to the treasure room. Once inside, kill the two SharpClaws and follow the path. Inside this sandy room, collect the fireflies by the wall. Continue heading down through the cave. ACTIVATE THE SWITCH ON THE WALL. If you don’t and you jump through the air vent, you will be blown back up to the next floor and you will have to make you way back to the treasure room. After activating the switch, go back to where the barrel bomb is because you will need it to blow up a wall. Pick it up using your SharpClaw disguise and run next door into the air current. You will drop it once you get down so pick it back up and continue down the path. Use your lantern to light the area. The crack in the wall will be on your right so make your way down the room a little and then turn right. Throw the bomb on the wall and walk through. Slide down the ladder and you will arrive in a new area.
Run down either path and you will find General Scales. He will flee and SharpClaws with the SpellStone will try and escape as well. You will jump onto the automobile and chase after them. This course is a bit difficult so try your best. The object of this is to kill the SharpClaw that’s in first. A simple bump on their automobile about four times should do it. Do not even attempt killing the other two behind him they will only waste your time. Watch out for falling carts and use the speed boosters to your advantage. Once you kill the SharpClaw with the SpellStone, the scene will change to you at the entrance to CloudRunner Fortress. The Queen CloudRunner will thank you for everything you’ve done and will tell you to take the second SpellStone to the Ocean Force Point Temple. You will also receive and extra life wing! Take the Arwing back to Dinosaur Planet, navigating through the course. Once on Dinosaur Planet, head back to Cape Claw.
